Infant Nutrition

New parents sometimes feel confused by the different advice they receive from well-meaning friends or relatives about feeding their baby.  What was once considered best feeding practices may no longer be applicable as the nutritional research is updated and new guidelines are developed.  Deciding what and how to feed your baby are some of the most important decisions that you will make in the first year.  Remember that there is no “exact recipe” on how to feed your baby. There are however guidelines that are recommended to help ensure your baby gets everything he or she needs.

A consultation for Infant Nutrition will include the following information:

Breastfeeding - an indepth guide to breastfeeding along with maternal dietary recommendations
Formula feeding - information on formula choices and preparation guides
Introduction of solid foods - in depth guide of what, when, and how much of recommended foods throughout the first year, including easy to read charts
Making your own baby food: guidelines and recipes
Supplements - the needs for you and your baby
Food safety issues  - ensure you aren't putting your baby at risk
Food allergy prevention  - very important for infants with a family history of food allergies
Other information for dealing with: Colick, Food Allergies, Constipation, Diarrhea, Gas, fussiness, sleepiness, slow weight gain, and frequent spitting-up.
